The Act of Sharing!

Okay, so there's this stuff that has been bothering me. How willing are people to share stuff with others? I must admit that at times it can be difficult to do so, especially if it's your personal and favorite stuff that you are required to share with someone else. Whoever wants to share any of your personal belonging has to seek your permission first right? And you are not Obligated to do so if you don't want to.

An incident that happened a while ago gave me something to really think about regarding the issue. A young lady walked into an airport terminal, after checking in to board her flight. but on arrival, she found out that her flight had been delayed due to bad weather. A few other flights as well faced the same situation so there were quite a lot of people sitting around and waiting for their flights. The young lady feeling that it might be a long wait decided to get something to eat. She spotted an empty seat besides one that had a magazine placed on it, dropped her main luggage on the empty seat and took her hand luggage with her to go get something to eat. During that time one of the delayed flights (Not her own) was called so the traffic within the terminal got a little busier. She rushed back to her seat with her snacks, sat down arranged her luggage well. She then turned to the table in between the seats and started eating the cookies.

After a couple of minutes, a man came over, picked up the magazine in the other seat and sat down to read it. Then it happened! The man nonchalantly placed his hands into the packet of cookies, without her permission nor even glancing at her, took one out and ate. She stared at him in disbelief. He didn't even glance at her, not even to say something like " hey dear, sorry for dipping into your cookie jar without your permission" or anything of that sort. He just kept on eating her cookies. She got very irritated, but decided to keep quiet, hoping he'll come to his senses, and stop. But no, common sense seemed to have eluded the young man, as he kept munching away at her cookies. The funny thing about it was that he did it with style, always waiting for her to eat one first before taking his. The young lady was now getting madder by the minute and just barely manged to hold her herself. I'm sure passengers sitting close by could practically see the steam coming out of her ears. Just as  it got to the last two cookies, her flight got announced and started boarding. She took one of the cookies, and waited to see if he had the nerve to take her last cookie. Lo and behold, the young man, still without looking at her, took out the last cookie, broke it into two, and offered her one piece. For her, that was the last straw! She angrily got up, flung the cookie at the young  man and proceeded to give him a thorough tongue lashing. Some of the things that came out of her mouth would probably induce massive coronary on elderly folks, should they have the misfortune of overhearing her. She then marched off to board her flight, leaving the young man gaping at her in bewilderment.

She was still fuming as she sat down to adjust her seat belt inside the plane. Just as the plane was taxiing to take off she decided to take out her magazine and start reading. She took it out, and then to her mortification, lying under her magazine, inside her hand luggage was her pack of cookies! She had forgotten that she'd hurriedly flung it inside her bag as she was rushing back to her seat! The young man had actually shared his own cookies, even to the last piece. She was the person trespassing, and she had humiliated him in front of everyone seating nearby. Her plane took off, and there was no way to apologize.

I'm sure many people will probably be calling this lady all sorts of names now. I know I did at first, but taking a closer look on the matter, I'd probably have literally punched the guy's eyes out (if I were that hungry) or verbally skinned her alive (if it was a lady). Other times I wonder if I would have been so stuck up, in sharing a pack of cookies. I'd like to believe I'd be able to share a pack of cookies with a stranger without qualms. But then who am i to judge her for her actions? What do you think folks? Drop your comments below please. Have a great day.
Cheers.
